“All Politics Is Local”
I’m not sure who first opined that phrase but today it is more true than ever before. The recent implosion in the U.S. Senate over the replacement of Obamacare has frustrated all of us. We as a local Republican Party organization has limited influence on politics in Washington. Yes, we can help push our Congressmen over the finish line but when they get to Washington they are only one among 435. Unfortunately we don’t have much influence with the senator from Oregon or North Carolina. We have to hope the local and state party in those far off states take care of their business. In order for us not to lose our sanity and to maintain our faith we must keep our shoulder to the wheel locally. The Madison County Republican Party has to focus on municipal, county and state races. We need to do our part and pray that other county parties will do the same.
